We were proud to be commissioned as part of a recent facelift to Goodison Park Stadium, home of Everton Football Club. Our role was to manufacture and install a striking high-level feature. The word ‘GOODISON’ was positioned prominently above the Park Stand.
A Challenge in Size and Structure
Each letter stands over 6 feet tall and is mounted at the very highest point of the stand. The goal was to create a floating visual effect, with no visible supports or brackets. To achieve this, all structural elements were hidden inside the letters, allowing for a clean silhouette against the skyline.
This design came with engineering challenges. Given the height and exposed location, each letter required a robust internal steel core, which was fitted within 3mm aluminium casings. These steel cores allowed the letters to be bolted securely to the top of the steel gantry. Our structural engineer reviewed and approved all steel design work, and each weld was stress tested by specialists to ensure maximum safety and durability.
Lighting and Installation
Despite the limited internal space due to the steel reinforcement, we achieved a strong blue neon-style glow using LED illumination housed within the letters. The lighting design met the architect’s brief and provided an impressive effect both up close and at a distance.
Because the letters are installed at such height, future servicing access was also considered. Multiple power supplies were used for each letter and placed within weatherproof enclosures on the main gantry walkway to allow for easier maintenance.
A Lasting Landmark
The finished result has received positive feedback from Everton FC, the project architects, and supporters. We’re proud to have contributed to this iconic site and are confident that the new signage will remain in place as a bold feature of Goodison Park until the club moves to its new stadium.
